Dream ChambersThe Longest Night reflects the continued journey from Jess Chambers’ ‘former life as a singer-songwriter’ into more experimental territory, featuring re-imaginings of folk songs deconstructed and condensed into potent forms with sonic beds of synthesiser and granulated vocals.

Influences include the vocal works of film composer Hildur Guðnadóttir and modular synthesists such as Caterina Barbieri and Hiro Kone for their expression of complex, sometimes dissonant or paradoxical, emotional states.

Themes on the album range from a longing for love and connection to aspirations of transcendence beyond the mundanity of daily life – an impulse that drew Jess to synthesisers: ‘I experience the sound of electricity and oscillators as the most evocative of that transcendent experience’.

Welcome, Dream Chambers!

We're excited to welcome a new artist into the collective!

Dream Chambers  is the name for APRA award-winning singer-songwriter Jess Chambers' ethereal electronic music.

Her sound, created using a mass of modular synthesizers, sequencers, and vocal processors, counterpoints heavy sub-bass with crystalline granular vocal samples and shimmering arpeggios.

Stay tuned for a single release in the coming weeks and a full album out on October 28th!

Continuing down the path releasing my music from projects past, this lil EP is from my soundtrack for a dance-theatre piece by Katrina George called RIB.

The show, performed at Toi Whakaari Drama School in 2017, was a creative exploration of the decay of a romantic relationship.

Seven years ago I was Artist in Residence at the Audio Foundation in Auckland, during which time I made the majority of my album, Opening. Since then I’ve been very lucky to have been kept afloat working on all manner of music and audio-related projects.

KŌTIRO is Ana Chaya Scotney, the Māori Jewish shape-shifting artist who this February releases her album ‘High-Def Multinational’.

Following her revered debut single ‘Force Field’ last September, Scotney now drops a potent concept album which ‘unpacks the complexities of place and belonging in Aotearoa today, from a Kōtiro frame of mind.

Citing musical influences ranging from M.I.A & Death Grips to her South Pacific label-mates on Kuini Qontrol and Sonorous Circle, Scotney (alongside co-producer Thomas Arbor) is exploring new sonic land – both the scrappy and sculpted.

Building from KŌTIRO’s original ‘high-vibe bedroom demos, the finished result is a dense collage which has been two years in the making. A karanga, an orator, a spine-tingling call to arms, High-Def Multinational is a lush and spirit-rich package of songs.
