8. Nathan Carter - The World of Data

The World of Data is an acousmatic soundscape work exploring the sublimity of our modern, technological world through various sonic manifestations of the flow of digital information. It organically and gesturally evolves between abstract and real/geographical spaces, portraying the omnipresence of digital information in our everyday life – from the personal computers and devices at home, to the many technologically augmented urban environments and spaces we experience and interact with. Most importantly, through these organic transformations, the work is expressing this technology as not merely just an artificial, human creation, but instead as an immensely complex and beautiful infrastructure that mirrors the chaotic forces and colossal systems of nature itself.

11. Mark Donlon - Lost Horizon

"Lost Horizon is from my recently completed album of electronic works 'Filmscapes'.

The pieces are conceived as if they were from film sound-tracks. All of them, apart from Lost Horizon, are either related to internal, personal visualisations or simply abstract pieces which are 'film-music-like'.

Lost Horizon, however is inspired by the 1937 Frank Capra Movie with that title. I had not seen the movie since I was a boy but some of the images somehow stuck deep in my imagination because of the emotional intensity in some of the scenes.
The composition employs a number of synthesis approaches, along with the maniplulation of samples and field-recordings."
