No TPPA!

The TPPA (Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement) is a ‘trade-deal’ currently being negotiated by the New Zealand government and 11 other countries. It is another tool to assist in the corporate take-over of the world, though we don’t know too much about it because it is being negotiated in secret so that the public can’t have a say. This is democracy? We should all be concerned. More info here > itsourfuture.org.nz/what-is-the-tppa

Show your opposition by joining the rallies, marches and events in your area this Saturday 29th March in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Geraldine, Hamilton, Hokianga, Invercargill, Kaitaia, Nelson, Palmerston North, Taranaki, Tauranga, Thames, Whanganui, Wellington, Whangarei.

If you have a spare 18 minutes, here’s a new track made while I was in residence at the Audio Foundation. It is a bit of an epic, combining violin, synth, voice and drums with some sounds that were bouncing around in my head at the time – the Auckland motorway, the factory above my studio, the kids playing at the school next door, ocean waves and news of unchecked state terrorism. More to come!

Plus, here’s some photos from the Chinese Lantern festival in Albert Park, Auckland on 16th Feb:

In other news, Womad is happening in Taranaki this weekend and I just checked the weather forecast to see a tropical storm is gonna be visiting at the same time!! How fun.

Unfortunately the i.ryoko residency at the Audio Foundation has now come to an end! What a joyous time, I wish it could have gone on longer! Thanks so much to Zoe, Chris and Jeff at the Audio Foundation, and all who attended the shows and/or had chats and inspired me while I was there.

So begins the recap – starting with these video stills taken from the show in the AF stairwell on Wednesday 19th Feb, 2014 featuring Duncan Bruce, Sally McIntyre (Radio Cegeste), Matt Faisandier (The Convoy) and Thomas Lambert (i.ryoko). Video shot by Zoe Drayton.
