 Ruby Tubes
I bought a few ruby tubes 12ax7's ("preamp" tubes) for a number I built and they suck. Two have already failed.
Just a heads up...

 Re: Ruby Tubes
How goes the amp building process? Made any since the maiden? Lay some specs on me bro, this is a gear forum.
I should be acquiring the world renown Jansen Bassman in the next few weeks for some transferal of STD (Sublime Tonal Domination)

 Re: Ruby Tubes
Good. I've put three together now and have four dudes asking about bass rigs, one of which has given me some dollars. So yeah...shit's happening. The Transmuter is the latest: 50 watts of glory...two channels...big knobs. High gain channel is just that...way too much at the moment, trying to strip it back. Got a good wob and hiiim on her though...just sussing the fizz and kaaah out. Low gain breaks up to quickly and sounds brittle... So yeah...not happy just yet. But she works and feels pretty solid so I have a good shell to tweak.

 Re: Ruby Tubes
Totally. I see your arrangement buzz is no doubt influenced by your dealings with the rectifier. Put some rad as fuck Moog style knobs on one!
What's the typical cost asscociated with a build man?

 Re: Ruby Tubes
I'm charging two grand for one of these bad boys with a cabinet for the chassis to sit in and be safe from the dangers of the high velocity kinetic world we operate in. That's about $1400 in materials and $600 in labour.
Yeh.

PS the knobs on it are already sweet! Solid as fuck...I don't know what they are made of but it isn't plastic.

 Re: Ruby Tubes
Ah, but they don't have that massive goofy charm that Moog stuff does! I'm about big switches man, simplicity.
What are you playing ampwise these days in aka-daka?
